Who is most likely to embezzle?

People tend to have stereotypes in mind of the kinds of people who commit crimes, and these assumptions change depending on the type of crime. For example, most people probably imagine that an embezzler is a white, male corporate leader in his middle years. It makes sense, as this demographic receives the most media coverage over scandals.

Multiple men sentenced in basketball scandal case

Families of North Carolina State basketball recruits were sent illegal payments by officials from Adidas in an effort to persuade them to play for the school. Payments were also sent to those being recruited by other schools. In October 2018, three men were sentenced to prison time on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. One of the men was sentenced to nine months in prison while the other two were sentenced to six months in prison on March 5.

Man accused of trafficking marijuana via FedEx

On March 12, federal, state and local law enforcement agents arrested a man on suspicion of trafficking marijuana from California to North Carolina via FedEx. The defendant is a Mexican national who has allegedly been living in the United States illegally for 25 years.

North Carolina man sentenced on drug and gun charges

A 24-year-old man was sentenced to six years in a federal prison on March 4 for possessing and distributing heroin and fentanyl. The custodial sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
