In Defense of Criminal Defense

When discussing my job as an attorney at a firm specializing in criminal defense, I often receive sideways looks from otherwise well meaning friends and family.  While they generally come up with gentler ways to ask, the common question is, "so you defend criminals for a living?"

Driving While License Revoked/No Operator's License

Here at Dysart Law, we handle all types of criminal defense cases from complex federal matters to traffic citations.  While I hesitate to label any case as routine, speeding and other everyday traffic infractions are often seen as run-of-mill situations that affect individuals who otherwise would not typically find themselves as a defendant in the criminal justice system.

Former North Carolina State employee accused of sex offenses

Allegations of sex crimes are often complicated. Because of the seriousness of the accusations, they deserve a thorough investigation. However, in many cases, there may be very little evidence to support the claims beyond the testimony of an alleged victim. One man in North Carolina will likely be fighting charges after he was arrested and charged with multiple sex offenses.

You've been arrested for DWI...Now what?

First, take a deep breath. Next, contact an attorney. Seriously. Whether its Dysart Law or another firm, it is in your best interest to get a lawyer involved as soon as possible to ensure that someone is looking out for your legal interests, explaining the process, and helping you with license and driving privilege concerns.

Improper Equipment reductions for Wake County speeders

At long last, "Improper Equipment" has come to Wake County. Prior to this point, a speeding charge could often be reduced to an improper equipment infraction in virtually every other county in North Carolina. The purpose of the prohibition remained unclear, but for whatever reason it was widely known by defense attorneys across the state that it was impossible to get an improper equipment reduction in Wake County...until now.

Fraud charges in North Carolina

Because of the popularity of law and crime dramas on television, many people might feel that they are well-versed in a variety of criminal issues. However, much of the law is nuanced and complicated. Those facing charges will likely want the assistance of an attorney with knowledge and experience concerning such cases. Fraud charges, for example, encompass a variety of different alleged acts and could result in serious consequences if a person in North Carolina is convicted.
