Jimmy is a seventh generation North Carolinian born and raised in Greenville, NC.  Upon graduation from J.H. Rose High School, he came to Raleigh where he graduated magna cum laude from N.C. State University in 1999 with a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature and a minor in International Studies.  During his studies at State, he studied abroad both in Mexico and Spain, becoming fluent in Spanish.  Prior to enrolling in law school at Campbell University, he taught high school Spanish at Athens Drive High School in Raleigh.

While at Campbell, Jimmy traveled to Vienna, Austria as a member of Campbell's team in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition, arguing with teams from all over the world.  During his summers, he gained valuable experience interning with the Pitt County District Attorney's Office and with a solo practitioner in civil practice where he assisted in preparing a civil trial.  After passing the Bar in 2003 Jimmy beamer an Associate with the firm of Warren, Perry & Anthony in Wake Forest, NC, where he primarily practiced in the real estate section handling residential real estate closings.

In 2004, Jimmy went to work at the Wake County District Attorney's Office.  As an Assistant District Attorney, Jimmy held numerous assignments within the office throughout his more than 12 years as a prosecutor.  While in District Court, he managed a grand funded Driving While Impaired (DWI) courtroom and also prosecuted in the Domestic Violence unit.  After a couple years in District Court, he moved up to the Superior Court, where he handled serious felony cases, including homicides, robberies, serious assaults, burglaries, thefts and drug cases.  Around 2010, he volunteered to move to the Felony Drug Unit.  As a member and ultimately supervisor of the Drug Unit Jimmy handled a heavy caseload of serious felony drug cases in both District and Superior Courts.  During his time in the Drug Unit he prosecuted violent homicides connected with the drug trade, drug trafficking offenses, Title III wiretap investigations, Habitual Felons, gang members and criminal organizations.  He gained valuable experience and knowledge in the area of 4th Amendment search and seizure law.  As an Assistant District Attorney Jimmy prosecuted more than a dozen homicides.  He handled thousands of cases and hand hundreds of bench and jury trials and motions hearings in both District and Superior Courts.  As a former Assistant District Attorney with over a decade of experience, Jimmy is and experienced criminal litigator who knows the court system and can assist you no matter what criminal charges you face.
